15-year-old girl's body in singer D4vd's impounded Tesla identified

The decomposed body found in singer D4vd’s Tesla at a Los Angeles impound lot last week has been identified as a 15-year-old girl named Celeste Rivas.

Celeste Rivas was identified through forensics, according to NBC Los Angeles. The cause of her death is yet to be determined by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office.

The Los Angeles Police Department stated to NBC News that they do not have a crime classification from the coroner regarding the mode or manner of death, and therefore, they have no suspect information at this time.

The Riverside Sheriff’s Office confirmed in a statement on Tuesday that Celeste Rivas Hernandez, who was reported missing from Lake Elsinore, has been identified as the juvenile found in the Tesla. They clarified that the LAPD is leading the investigation and is the main point of contact, apologizing for initially labeling it a homicide case.

The remains were discovered on Sept. 8 after the LAPD responded to a report of a foul odor emanating from the Tesla at Hollywood Tow. The vehicle was impounded following a report of abandonment.

According to the medical examiner’s office, the girl was found wearing specific clothing and jewelry. Law enforcement sources revealed that the remains were not intact and indicated that the girl had been deceased inside the car for a considerable period.

A spokesperson for D4vd, whose real name is David Anthony Burke, stated that he is fully cooperating with authorities after being informed of the situation. Following the discovery of the remains, his scheduled performance in Seattle as part of the Withered World Tour was canceled.

Minyvonne Burke is a senior breaking news reporter for NBC News, while Andrew Blankstein is an investigative reporter covering crime, courts, and homeland security in the Western U.S. for NBC News.
