6 South American Countries Secure Spots in FIFA 2026 World Cup

On Thursday night, the top six teams in South America's FIFA 2026 World Cup qualifying secured their spots.

Argentina had already qualified and leads the league table. They won 3-0 against Venezuela on Tuesday, possibly Lionel Messi's final match on home soil.

Brazil defeated Chile 3-0 at Maracanã stadium in Rio de Janeiro. This victory could mark a new chapter for the team under coach Carlo Ancelotti.

Uruguay moved to third place by beating Peru 3-0. They will also compete in the FIFA 2026 World Cup.

Ecuador is in fourth place, while Paraguay is in sixth. Both teams will play in the World Cup next year. Paraguay qualified for the first time since 2010.

Colombia secured the last top-six spot with a 3-0 win over Bolivia. They will play in the World Cup for the first time since 2018.
