Acura RSX Prototype Teases Design Features

This week, Monterey Car Week is taking place on the California coast, showcasing a variety of cars from historic vehicles to futuristic concepts. Acura, the luxury division of Honda, is celebrating its 10th year at the event by unveiling the Acura RSX Prototype, which is the brand's first in-house developed electric vehicle (EV).

The RSX Prototype is based on the Acura Performance EV Concept introduced last year and will be the first EV produced at Honda's EV Hub in Marysville, Ohio. This facility, along with other nearby manufacturing plants, received a $1 billion investment to allow Honda and Acura to manufacture different types of vehicles on the same production lines, catering to the changing market demands for electric, hybrid, and internal combustion engine vehicles.

The RSX is the inaugural vehicle to be manufactured on this new line, with plans to produce the 0 Saloon and Honda 0 SUV prototypes in the future. A new lightweight welding process was revealed earlier this year, aligning with Honda's strategy of being "thin, light, and wise."

Acura highlights that the RSX is not only the first model built on the new in-house EV platform but also the first to run on Honda's ASIMO OS operating system. This system, introduced at CES 2025, integrates various vehicle control units for automated driving, driver assistance systems, in-car entertainment, and other vehicle functions.

The ASIMO OS, named after Honda's Advanced Step in Innovative Mobility robot, signifies Honda's commitment to the connection between humans and machines. It aims to provide a personalized driving experience for RSX owners and is seen as a way for Honda and Acura to engage with customers as artificial intelligence continues to evolve in the U.S.

The Acura RSX is expected to be available at Acura dealerships in the latter half of 2026.
