Aitana Bonmati Wins Third Consecutive Ballon d’Or

Barcelona and Spain's Aitana Bonmati has secured her third consecutive women's Ballon d'Or award, surpassing Mariona Caldentey and Alessia Russo.

Despite Spain's loss to England in the Euro 2025 final and Barcelona's defeat by Arsenal in the Champions League final, Bonmati's exceptional performance earned her the title of the best player in both competitions last season.

Bonmati's win maintains Barcelona's hold on the women's Ballon d'Or for the fifth consecutive year, following victories by Alexia Putellas. She is the first player to achieve three wins since the award's inception in 2018.

Caldentey, Bonmati's teammate from Spain, secured the second position, while Russo, who claimed European titles at both club and country levels last season, came in third.

Among the top-10 players, five Lionesses were listed, with Chloe Kelly in fifth place, Leah Williamson in seventh, Lucy Bronze in ninth, and goalkeeper Hannah Hampton, who received the Yashin trophy, in tenth place.
