Al-Nassr Denies Cristiano Ronaldo First Major Trophy, Despite Record Set

Cristiano Ronaldo's Quest for Trophy Continues

Cristiano Ronaldo's pursuit of a major title with Al-Nassr was prolonged as they lost to Al-Ahli in a penalty shootout during the Saudi Super Cup final. Ronaldo scored the opening goal from a penalty kick, but Al-Ahli equalized through Franck Kessie just before halftime. This goal marked Ronaldo's 100th for Al-Nassr, making him the first player to achieve this milestone with four different clubs. He now has a total of 939 career goals, inching closer to his target of 1000.

Despite initially leading 2-1, Al-Nassr conceded late and eventually succumbed to a 5-3 defeat in the penalty shootout. The match was the highlight of the Saudi Super Cup events held in Hong Kong, where Al-Nassr defeated Al-Ittihad and Al-Ahli overcame Al-Qadsiah to reach the final. Ronaldo, aged 40, had previously won the 2023 Arab Club Champions Cup, which is not officially recognized by FIFA.

Al-Nassr will begin their Saudi Pro League campaign on August 29 against Al-Taawoun.
