Alan Shearer criticizes Match of the Day blunder on Bournemouth goal.

In the first episode of the revamped Match of the Day, veteran pundit Alan Shearer made an on-air mistake. The incident happened during the analysis of Liverpool's 4-2 win over Bournemouth, specifically when Bournemouth scored their first goal.

Shearer wrongly criticized Liverpool left back Milos Kerkez for the goal, even though Kerkez had been substituted four minutes earlier. An on-screen graphic also incorrectly identified Kerkez instead of Andy Robertson, who was actually playing in the position during the goal.

Social media quickly responded to Shearer's error with critical comments. This blunder occurred in the first episode of Match of the Day's new format, which now includes presenters Mark Chapman, Gabby Logan, and Kelly Cates, with Wayne Rooney as a new pundit.

Gary Lineker, the long-time host, is no longer part of the show. He left the BBC in May after being accused of sharing an anti-semitic post. Before being substituted, Kerkez had a below-par debut for Liverpool, but the manager explained the substitution was a precaution due to his disciplinary situation.
