Altay Bayindir set to play for Manchester United in derby.
Ruben Amorim has confirmed that Altay Bayindir will be the starting goalkeeper for Manchester United in the upcoming match against Manchester City on Sunday, despite the recent arrival of Senne Lammens.
Lammens joined United from Royal Antwerp for €21 million (£18.2m) on the deadline day, preceding Andre Onana's loan move to Trabzonspor for the season.
Bayindir has started in all three Premier League matches for Amorim's team this season, although he has made errors leading to goals against Arsenal and Burnley.
Amorim stated in a pre-match press conference on Friday, "Altay is going to continue. Different league, different country, different ball. They will fight for the position. It is clear. Altay will start. He is ready to play, he will play."
Regarding the addition of Belgian goalkeeper Lammens, Amorim mentioned, "We are really pleased, he is a goalkeeper with a lot of potential. He is one more option to play. He will be ready."
Amorim also addressed injury concerns for the upcoming match, confirming that Mason Mount and Matheus Cunha are sidelined due to injuries sustained in the previous game, and Diogo Dalot picked up an injury while on international duty for Portugal.
"They are out for this game," Amorim said. "We need those guys to be a very competitive team. We have players who are eager to play. We will be competitive on Sunday. For how long, I don't want to say. We will manage day by day."
United, who have garnered four points from their first three league games, earned four points from their two encounters against City in the previous season.
