Arsenal Captain Takes Legal Action Against Norwegian Publications

Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard is pursuing legal action against two Norwegian media outlets after his wedding faced disruption by a photographer being removed by security.

The 26-year-old is taking legal steps against weekly magazine Se og Hor and daily newspaper Dagbladet for alleged privacy violations related to reports about his UK residence.

In a letter to Se og Hør's editor Niklas Kokkin-Thoresen, Odegaard's lawyer Tim Lowles expressed concerns about the disclosure of the location of Odegaard's family home and the publication of its photographs.

Kokkin-Thoresen responded calmly to the allegations, stating that the articles in question will not be retracted.

During Odegaard's wedding with Helen Spilling, a photographer from Se og Hor, Andreas Fadum, was forcefully removed by security guards, causing a disturbance.

The incident occurred towards the end of the ceremony as guests were departing, leading the magazine to consider involving the police.

Odegaard and Spilling officially tied the knot in November and welcomed a baby boy in December. They celebrated with a grand ceremony in Oslo last Saturday, attended by fellow Arsenal players Bukayo Saka, Kai Havertz, and Leandro Trossard with their partners.

The removal of photographer Andreas Fadum, who was covering the event for Se og Hor, from the vicinity of Gjerdrum Church caused a stir among onlookers.

Se og Hor condemned the use of physical force against their photographer, emphasizing his right to cover a public event in a public space. They intend to report the matter to the police to prevent such incidents against journalists.

The Norwegian Editors' Association also criticized the treatment of the photojournalist, emphasizing the need to report such incidents and supporting Se og Hor in addressing the issue.

Despite the disruption, the couple managed to enjoy their special day surrounded by loved ones. Spilling, a dancer who won Norway's dance show in 2021, has a significant following on social media and is involved in dance and fashion ventures in Norway.

Odegaard and Spilling have been public about their relationship since 2023, making joint appearances and supporting each other in their respective careers.
