Arteta Concerned as Saka Injured; Odegaard to Undergo Scan

Mikel Arteta announced that Martin Odegaard and Bukayo Saka will have further assessments to determine the extent of their shoulder and hamstring injuries sustained during Arsenal's 5-0 victory over Leeds United.

Odegaard, playing his 200th game for Arsenal, was substituted for Ethan Nwaneri after receiving treatment on the pitch. Saka was replaced immediately after consulting with the club physio due to a left hamstring injury.

This follows Arsenal's loss of Kai Havertz to a knee injury, which also needs additional testing.

Arteta explained in a post-match press conference, "Martin felt something in his shoulder when he landed. We will need to scan it tomorrow to understand it better. Bukayo was carrying the ball, wrestling with the defender, and he felt something in his hamstring. It's not the same one as the previous injury. But it's been two weeks, and we've already lost Kai, Martin, and Bukayo, so it tells you how well equipped you have to be in this league to maintain the level we want."

Regarding Saka's injury, Arteta told beIN Sports after the match, "For Bukayo to come off, for sure it looks like something that is significant."

Last season, Saka had a right hamstring injury in December, requiring surgery and sidelining him for over three months.

In response to Saka's injury, Arteta brought on Leandro Trossard, who recently signed a new contract with Arsenal, and shifted Noni Madueke from left to right wing.

Despite Odegaard and Saka being key players for Arsenal, Arteta emphasized the importance of having adequate replacements without compromising the team's structure.

Arsenal have won their first two Premier League games, keeping clean sheets in both. They will face Liverpool in their next match on Sunday, August 31.
