Assistance for Accessibility
At the Financial Times, we strive to make our website accessible to all customers, including older individuals and those with disabilities. Our website is certified as accessible by the Digital Accessibility Centre, meeting level AA of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.2).
WCAG 2.2 sets standards for making websites more accessible to people with disabilities. We are dedicated to enhancing accessibility on FT.com and welcome any questions or feedback from users.
Our website has been tested for accessibility by individuals using keyboard-only control, screen readers on desktop and mobile devices, screen magnification, and high-contrast mode. It has undergone testing by a team of web analysts with disabilities and user testing with individuals facing various challenges.
All pages on www.ft.com are accessible, but sub-domains like markets.ft.com and accounts.ft.com are still being improved for full accessibility.
The comments section on our articles is currently powered by a third-party tool with limited accessibility, which we are actively working to enhance. Similarly, some features on our manage cookies page are also powered by a third-party tool with limited accessibility, undergoing improvements.
While most of our videos have close captioning (CC), older videos from 2016 and earlier may not have this feature. We are working to address this, and users can reach out to us for assistance.
There might be a delay in providing transcripts and close captions for newly published videos as we create the transcripts. Videos not in English will have English subtitles but no transcript. Videos without speech will not have a transcript.
We are dedicated to improving accessibility by exploring third-party tools for audio transcripts. Our use of generative AI tools aims to enhance alt text quality for screen reader users, with all AI-generated alt text reviewed by an editor before publication.
The Financial Times utilizes the Voluntary Product Accessibility Template (VPAT) to ensure compliance with WCAG 2.1 standards for IT accessibility. Users can download the VPAT 2.4 WCAG: WCAG 2.1 or ISO/IEC 40500 version from our website.
We value your feedback. If you encounter any issues accessing our content or believe there is additional information that should be included, please get in touch with us.
This accessibility statement was first issued in November 2016 and was last updated in July 2024.
