Aston Villa secures loan deal for Liverpool's Harvey Elliott
Aston Villa have reached an agreement with Liverpool to loan midfielder Harvey Elliott with an obligation to make the transfer permanent next summer. The deal is valued at around £35 million according to Liverpool sources, while Villa sources suggest it's closer to £30 million. Elliott is traveling to the Midlands for a medical.
Villa's summer transfer window has been quiet, with only Evann Guessand and Marco Bizot joining the squad. Meanwhile, Jacob Ramsey, Leander Dendoncker, and Enzo Barrenechea have left. Liverpool recently agreed to sign Alexander Isak from Newcastle United for £125 million.
RB Leipzig had shown interest in Elliott, valuing him at over £40 million with a buy-back option or over £50 million without one. Villa is also close to finalizing a loan deal for Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho.
Elliott, who was named Player of the Tournament at the Under-21 European Championship, has made 147 appearances for Liverpool since 2019. Villa's manager Unai Emery seeks to add a creative midfielder to the squad, with Elliott's versatility being highly valued.
Villa, yet to score this season, are looking to strengthen their attacking midfield and wide areas. The team is exploring a deal for Jadon Sancho to boost their offensive capabilities.
