Baseball Player Rooker Assists Caminero with Bonus Ball

Cal Raleigh won the 2025 Home Run Derby by defeating Junior Caminero in the final. Raleigh, a catcher for the Seattle Mariners, leads MLB this season with 38 home runs, becoming the first catcher to win the event. He is the second Seattle Mariner to win after Ken Griffey Jr.

In the semifinals, Oneil Cruz and Byron Buxton were eliminated. In the first round, Brent Rooker, James Wood, Matt Olson, and Jazz Chisholm Jr. were also eliminated.

The Home Run Derby took place at Truist Park. The competition consists of three rounds: the first round, semifinals, and finals. In each round, players have a set time or number of pitches to hit as many home runs as possible. The player with the most home runs wins the event.

Participants in the Home Run Derby can have a bonus round if they hit a ball at least 425 feet. The player with the most home runs in the first round advances to the semifinals. In case of a tie, the longest batted ball is considered.

Notable players who did not participate in the 2025 Home Run Derby include two-time champion Pete Alonso. Alonso, who won the event in 2019 and 2021, decided not to participate this year despite his successful season with the New York Mets.

Alonso, who has 21 home runs this season, prioritized rest over participating in the derby. He is focused on maintaining his performance and being the best version of himself for his team and organization.
