Bengals QB Joe Burrow to Undergo Surgery for Turf Toe, Faces 3-Month Absence

Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow will have surgery on his injured toe and is expected to be out for at least three months, as reported by sources to The Athletic on Monday. The injury is severe turf toe.

Burrow exited Sunday's game against the Jacksonville Jaguars in the second quarter and did not return. He was seen after the game in a walking boot with crutches.

Head coach Zac Taylor is set to give an update on Burrow's condition on Monday afternoon.

In Burrow's absence, backup Jake Browning guided the Bengals to a comeback victory over the Jaguars, finishing with 21 completions on 32 attempts for 241 yards and two touchdowns. His 1-yard QB sneak secured the win with 18 seconds left.

Burrow had 7 completions on 13 attempts for 76 yards and a touchdown before leaving the game.

Cincinnati (2-0) will play the Minnesota Vikings away on Sunday.

With Burrow potentially returning in mid-December at best, the team will rely on Browning to lead the offense. Browning previously took over for Burrow in 2023 and performed well, winning 4 out of 7 games and completing 70% of his passes.

The Bengals will need to adjust their offense to Browning's strengths to maintain their performance. Improved defensive play will also be crucial to support Browning's efforts.

Burrow has faced multiple injuries in his career, including ACL and wrist injuries. His recovery and return to form will be a key focus moving forward.
