Billie Eilish's brother tear-gassed at LA ICE protest

Singer-songwriter and producer Finneas reported being tear-gassed by the National Guard at a protest in Downtown Los Angeles. The 27-year-old, known for his Oscar and Grammy wins and as the older brother of pop star Billie Eilish, participated in a demonstration against immigration raids, along with thousands of others.

In an Instagram Story post on Sunday night, Finneas stated he was tear-gassed almost immediately at the peaceful protest downtown, accusing authorities of provoking the situation. He also expressed strong criticism towards Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and shared information urging military personnel to uphold citizens' constitutional rights.

The protest was fueled by concerns for the community, with TV producer Travis Helwig cautioning against potential misrepresentation of the events by the media. The demonstration, initially driven by a desire to protect and show solidarity, faced escalating tensions as President Trump deployed 2,000 National Guard troops to Los Angeles.

The unrest began after ICE raids at various locations, including a clothing warehouse in the Fashion District. Following arrests, crowds attempted to prevent ICE agents from leaving. Another protest emerged outside a federal building where reports surfaced of detainees allegedly being held in the basement.

Governor Gavin Newsom of California criticized Trump's decision to involve the National Guard, emphasizing that the federal intervention was unnecessary and would only worsen the situation. Newsom announced California's intention to take legal action against the Trump administration for federalizing the National Guard without proper authorization.
