British UFC fighter Lerone Murphy lands impressive spinning-elbow KO shortly after rare identical finish

Lerone Murphy achieved a remarkable victory at UFC 319 by knocking out his opponent, Aaron Pico, with a spinning elbow. The 34-year-old fighter from Manchester accepted the fight in Chicago just three weeks before the event, risking his eight-fight winning streak.

Despite facing early aggression from his American opponent, Murphy managed to stay composed and landed significant strikes, including a knee to the body that excited the crowd. Towards the end of the first round, Murphy delivered a stunning spinning elbow that knocked out Pico, securing his victory.

The win positions Murphy for a potential shot at the featherweight title. In a post-match interview, Murphy expressed his desire to face Alexander Volkanovski next, praising Pico's performance and calling out for his teammate to join the UFC.

This victory marked only the 10th spinning elbow knockout in UFC history, with the eighth occurring just moments before Murphy's knockout by Carlos Prates against Geoff Neal. In another notable fight, Khamzat Chimaev dominated Dricus du Plessis in the middleweight division, becoming the new UFC middleweight champion.

Chimaev, known as one of the most intimidating fighters in the sport, showcased his skills in a one-sided match against du Plessis. Despite his victory, Chimaev commended his opponent for his strength and resilience, labeling him a true champion.
