Cadillac's New F1 Team Speaks Out on Driver Line-Up for 2026 Debut

Cadillac to Join Formula One in 2026

Cadillac will be the 11th team on the Formula One grid next season. The US-based car manufacturer has announced its driver lineup for the upcoming campaign. There were rumors about former Red Bull team principal Christian Horner joining Cadillac, but the CEO, Dan Towriss, confirmed that there have been no talks with Horner and ruled out his involvement with the team.

Horner was dismissed after the British Grand Prix last month, ending his 20-year tenure with Red Bull. Despite speculation linking him to Cadillac, Towriss stated that the team is satisfied with Graeme Lowdon as the current team principal. Sergio Perez and Valtteri Bottas have been unveiled as Cadillac's drivers for 2026, with both drivers having extensive experience in Formula One.

Perez, a six-time race winner, and Bottas, who has 10 victories for Mercedes, are both 35 years old and were dropped by their previous teams in 2024. Towriss emphasized the importance of their experience, leadership, and technical skills for Cadillac's new project. Perez, in particular, is eager to move on from a challenging season with Red Bull, while Bottas is excited to contribute to building a competitive team from scratch.

The partnership of Perez and Bottas brings over 500 race starts and 106 podium finishes to Cadillac. Both drivers have worked alongside Formula One champions in the past. Perez partnered with Max Verstappen at Red Bull, while Bottas was a teammate to Lewis Hamilton at Mercedes. The team believes that the combination of Perez and Bottas is the right fit for their future in Formula One.
