Calum Hood, the bassist of the ARIA award-winning Australian band 5 Seconds of Summer, is currently the only single member of the group. During the promotion of the band's new single "Easier," Calum, 23, revealed that he briefly felt upset when internet memes surfaced in May, poking fun at him for being a 'fifth wheel'. Despite his initial reaction, he now finds humor in the situation.

During an interview on The Kyle and Jackie O show, Calum mentioned, "I'm pretty sure I angrily re-bottled this and I didn't mean to cause offence to the person who wrote it, because I'm sure it was a joke. I was angry for a split second and then I enjoyed the humour within the joke." He added, "It was funny. It is a funny thing, Yes - still single. Still looking for my soulmate."

The meme that sparked this reaction depicted three band members with their partners, while Calum was shown alone sipping coffee. Fans expressed support for Calum, with some jokingly volunteering to date him.

In the same interview, Calum shared his experience with the dating app Raya, designed for celebrities. Despite trying the app, he admitted to having no success with it in his quest for a relationship.

Meanwhile, Luke Hemmings, the guitarist of the band, appears to have moved on with Sierra Deaton after his previous relationship ended. Drummer Ashton Irwin is currently dating Kaitlin Blaisdell, while singer Michael Clifford got engaged to Crystal Leigh in January, proposing in a place that held special meaning for the couple.
