Carson Wentz Set to Make NFL History with Record Starting Streak

Colin Cowherd believes the Minnesota Vikings should not wait for J.J. McCarthy's development as the quarterback will be sidelined for 2-4 weeks due to a high ankle sprain.

Carson Wentz, aged 32, is set to make NFL history by starting for the Minnesota Vikings against the Cincinnati Bengals. This will mark his sixth consecutive season starting for six different teams, including the Philadelphia Eagles, Indianapolis Colts, Washington Commanders, Los Angeles Rams, Kansas City Chiefs, and now the Vikings.

Reflecting on his journey, Wentz mentioned that his varied experiences have provided him with a different perspective, having been a starter, traded, cut, and a backup to Hall of Fame quarterbacks. He emphasized not taking his opportunities for granted.

Wentz's previous starts with the Rams and Chiefs occurred in Week 18 when the teams rested their starters. His last meaningful starts were with the Commanders in 2022.

Looking ahead to Week 3, Wentz is eager to play a game with real consequences, expressing excitement about the upcoming challenge.

J.J. McCarthy sustained an ankle sprain during the Vikings' loss to the Atlanta Falcons in Week 2, leading to his expected absence for two to four weeks. The Vikings with a 1-1 record will face the Bengals (2-0) at U.S. Bank Stadium for their Week 3 matchup.
