Celtic Pays Tribute to Lisbon Lion John Clark

Celtic Football Club has mourned the passing of legendary player John Clark at the age of 84. In a career spanning over four decades, Clark made over 300 appearances for the club and achieved significant success.

Clark's greatest accomplishment came in 1967 when Celtic defeated Inter Milan in Lisbon to become the first British team to win the European Cup. This remarkable feat is forever etched in Celtic's history.

Throughout his career, Clark won numerous major honours, including four league titles. He made his Celtic debut in 1959 and later returned to the club to coach the youth team and work as an assistant to Billy McNeil. He also managed several other teams before rejoining Celtic as a kit man for two decades.

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers praised Clark's contributions to the club, stating, "John's presence at Celtic across so many decades was an inspiration to players, managers, and staff."

Peter Lawwell, Celtic's chairman, described Clark as a "very dear friend and colleague," emphasizing his remarkable achievements and humble demeanor.
