Cierra Ortega's Attendance Confirmed for 'Love Island: USA' Reunion
Cierra Ortega has announced that she will not be present at the "Love Island: USA" Season 7 reunion. In a nearly 10-minute TikTok video shared on July 27, she stated, "At this point in time, I will not be at the reunion." Ortega expressed relief that her perspective and feelings are now public.
The 25-year-old departed from the villa during the July 6 episode after old social media posts resurfaced, revealing her use of a racist slur against individuals of Asian descent. Her departure on the show was attributed to a "personal" matter.
Ortega later apologized, acknowledging that her exit was due to past posts where she used an offensive term unknowingly. She expressed regret, saying, "I had no idea that the word held as much pain, as much harm, and came with the history that it did, or I never would have used it."
When contacted by USA TODAY, streaming service Peacock declined to comment on Ortega's absence from the reunion.
In a series of lengthy TikTok videos posted on July 27, Ortega shared her experience on the reality dating show. While confirming her non-attendance at the reunion, she did not specify whether the decision was hers or made by Peacock.
Ortega viewed her decision not to attend as a step towards closure. She acknowledged the negative end to her experience on the show due to her actions, stating, "And I'm never gonna shy away from the fact that the experience did end negatively because of my own actions, and that's something that I'll have to deal with."
In another TikTok video posted on July 27, Ortega recounted how producers informed her about leaving the villa. She mentioned that on July 4, a producer informed her that certain posts on her social media conflicted with the show and network's values, leading to her removal from the show.
The "Love Island USA" Season 7 reunion is set to premiere on August 25 at 9 p.m. ET on Peacock. The episode will be hosted by Andy Cohen and Ariana Madix. Viewers can catch up on past episodes or rewatch the entire season on Peacock, which offers two subscription options: premium for $7.99 a month and premium plus for $13.99 a month.
