Clippers Owner Allegedly Paid Kawhi Leonard for 'No-Show Job'

Pablo Torre has delved into another investigation, this time focusing on Kawhi Leonard following his previous reporting on Jordon Hudson and sports gambling scandals.

According to Torre's findings, it is suggested that the Los Angeles Clippers' player may have received substantial payments from a company funded by Steve Ballmer, the team's owner, in an attempt to circumvent NBA salary cap regulations.

One key detail uncovered is that Aspiration, described as a "tree brokerage," declared bankruptcy in March 2025 with KL2 Aspire LLC, allegedly owned by Kawhi Leonard, listed as a creditor for $7 million. Despite celebrities like Robert Downey Jr. and Drake endorsing the company, Torre did not find any evidence of Leonard endorsing it.

An unnamed employee claimed that the payments made to Leonard were aimed at bypassing the salary cap rules. The employee mentioned that the largest payment made by Aspiration for marketing purposes went unnoticed by the media, and Leonard allegedly did not have to fulfill any obligations in return.

It remains to be seen whether the NBA will take action on these findings and potentially launch an investigation.
