Colts Player Anthony Richardson Injures Eye Before Cardinals Game: Report
The Indianapolis Colts' owner, Jim Irsay, passed away last month. Former team player Dallas Clark highlighted Irsay's impact on the organization, players, and the city.
At the start of the 2025 season, Anthony Richardson was the backup quarterback for the Indianapolis Colts, with Daniel Jones securing the starting position during training camp.
During warmups before the game against the Arizona Cardinals, Richardson suffered an injury and was moved to the third-string position. Colts rookie Riley Leonard will now be backing up Jones.
Reportedly, Richardson sustained an eye injury while warming up with a band before the game. He has had a challenging season, making appearances only in blowout wins against the Tennessee Titans and the Las Vegas Raiders, with one completion for nine yards.
Selected as the No. 4 overall pick in the 2023 draft, Richardson missed most of his rookie season due to injury. In his four starts, he had a record of 2-2 with 577 passing yards and three touchdown passes.
In 2024, Richardson had his best statistical year with 1,814 passing yards, eight touchdown passes, and 12 interceptions, finishing 6-5 in 11 starts. The Colts, led by Jones, currently hold a 4-1 record entering the game against Arizona.
Arizona will be without Kyler Murray in the upcoming game, with former Colts quarterback Jacoby Brissett set to start.
