Cory Sandhagen Praises Umar Nurmagomedov's Wrestling Skills

LAS VEGAS - Cory Sandhagen found encouragement in his ability to compete with a skilled grappler like Umar Nurmagomedov.

Sandhagen faced Nurmagomedov in August at UFC on ABC 7, where he lost by decision. Despite the loss, Sandhagen took positives from the fight as he prepares for his upcoming title match against bantamweight champion Merab Dvalishvili at UFC 320 on Saturday at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Sandhagen views Nurmagomedov as his toughest challenge in defending against takedowns, giving him confidence for the Dvalishvili bout.

Reflecting on his fight with Nurmagomedov, Sandhagen stated, "I feel like Umar is equally, if not better than Merab at offensively wrestling." He expressed readiness for the upcoming fight, feeling assured about his wrestling abilities.

Following his victory over Sandhagen, Nurmagomedov faced Dvalishvili at UFC 311, losing a close match. Nurmagomedov will seek to bounce back in a fight against Mario Bautista at UFC 321 on October 25 in Abu Dhabi.

Sandhagen commented on the upcoming fight, acknowledging the challenge both fighters face. He noted Bautista's skills and potential, expressing his belief in Nurmagomedov's ability to win but acknowledging the competitiveness of the match.
