
'Cosby Show' Actor Malcolm-Jamal Warner Dies at 54
Malcolm-Jamal Warner, known for his role as Theo Huxtable on "The Cosby Show," has passed away at the age of 54. He drowned off the coast of Costa Rica on Sunday, with the official cause of death being asphyxia, according to Costa Rican National Police.
Warner died near Cocles beach in Limon, Costa Rica, after being caught in a rip current. Despite bystanders rescuing him and providing treatment on shore, he was declared dead by the Costa Rican Red Cross.
Costa Rica's national police confirmed Warner's identity and described him as a tourist. Throughout his career, Warner appeared in various TV shows, including "Malcolm & Eddie," "Reed Between the Lines," and "The Resident."
Born on August 18, 1970, Warner began acting early in life and gained recognition for his role in "The Cosby Show," which earned him an Emmy nomination. He continued to work in television, film, and music, receiving a Grammy Award in 2015 for best traditional R&B performance.
In addition to his artistic endeavors, Warner co-hosted a podcast called "Not All Hood," focusing on mental health in the Black community. Reflecting on his life, he expressed pride in maintaining a successful career and personal peace of mind beyond his time on "The Cosby Show."
