Cucurella Encourages Neto to Score in Club World Cup Quarter-Final after Loss of Team-Mate

Marc Cucurella expressed to Pedro Neto his belief that it is his 'destiny' to score in the Club World Cup quarter-final against Palmeiras on Friday in honor of Diogo Jota.

Neto's participation is uncertain as Chelsea is leaving the decision to the Portugal international following the passing of his national team-mate.

Cucurella, speaking at Philadelphia’s Lincoln Financial Field, mentioned, 'In the morning, he was sad, but we tried to support him. I told him that if he plays, he will score because that is destiny. Hopefully, we can show our love and dedication by scoring for him.'

Cucurella added, 'It's a tough time. We send our love to the family, the wife, the kids, and from me, the entire Chelsea squad, and football. Football is not important now. Showing respect and love is crucial.'

Regarding Neto's potential presence in the match, Cucurella stated, 'I think so. The manager and he must decide, but it’s important that Pedro feels good. Football is secondary, but Pedro can help us in this game.'

Neto, who has scored three goals in the Club World Cup, is aiming to help Chelsea defeat Palmeiras and advance to the semi-final against Fluminense or Al-Hilal.
