Dakota Johnson Premieres New Film with Mother Melanie Griffith

Dakota Johnson brought her mother, Melanie Griffith, to the premiere of her new film "Splitsville" on Tuesday at The Grove in Los Angeles. Dakota, 35, wore a sleeveless metallic gown and posed with Melanie, 68, who chose a cream suit for the occasion. Also present were co-star Adria Arjona and actor Kyle Marvin, who stars in the film. Reese Witherspoon's daughter, Ava Phillippe, 25, was in attendance as well, wearing a metallic mini-dress.

"Splitsville," a comedy directed by Michael Angelo Covino, revolves around the drama in the lives and friendships of two couples. The movie is set to be released on August 22. Dakota, who grew up with Antonio Banderas as her stepfather, auditioned for The Juilliard School to avoid losing her allowance for not attending college. She started her career in modeling and acting at a young age.

Dakota, who recently ended a seven-year relationship with Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, expressed her frustration with the scrutiny faced by celebrity offspring. She has been enjoying her time in Ibiza following the split. Griffith, on the other hand, reportedly tried to reconcile her daughter with Martin, believing they should be together. Melanie has four children from her marriages and continues to support Dakota in her career endeavors.
