Daniel Jones scores 2 touchdowns in Colts' strong debut against Dolphins

The 'FOX NFL Kickoff' crew discussed the Cincinnati Bengals' expectations for 2025.

Daniel Jones led the Indianapolis Colts to a 33-8 victory over the Miami Dolphins in the 2025 NFL season opener. Jones completed 22 of 29 passes for 272 yards, threw a touchdown to Michael Pittman Jr., and scored two rushing touchdowns.

Jones won the starting quarterback position over Anthony Richardson for the Colts this season. Head coach Shane Steichen expressed confidence in Jones by naming him the Week 1 starter.

Jones showcased his skills in the game against the Dolphins, capitalizing on turnovers forced by the Colts' defense. He connected with Pittman for a touchdown and added another rushing touchdown to secure a significant lead.

The Colts dominated the first half, leading 20-0 at halftime. Despite a late touchdown by the Dolphins, they could not mount a comeback against the Colts.

Jones spread the ball effectively, with Pittman and rookie tight end Ty Warren making notable contributions. Running back Jonathan Taylor also played a key role in boosting the Colts' offense.

In contrast, Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa struggled, throwing two interceptions and being sacked three times. The Dolphins' offense failed to gain momentum throughout the game.
