Doctor Disguises to Poison Mother's Partner

Thomas Kwan, a GP, created a fake ID under the name Raj Patel to carry out an attack.

Police surrounded the home of Dr. Thomas Kwan, suspecting him of injecting poison into his mother's partner. Kwan disguised himself as a community nurse and administered a substance to the 71-year-old man, who believed it was a COVID-19 booster shot.

Emergency services, including police and firefighters in hazmat suits, responded to the scene in Ingleby Barwick, England, creating a highly unusual and mysterious atmosphere in the neighborhood.

Kwan was charged with attempted murder after allegedly injecting poison into his mother's partner, motivated by a dispute over her will. He had stored lethal chemicals in his garage, including ingredients for ricin, liquid mercury, sulfuric acid, and arsenic.

At the start of his trial, Kwan, who initially pleaded not guilty, changed his plea to guilty. He was sentenced to 31 years in prison for the crime, driven by greed and a desire for revenge.

The victim, Patrick O'Hara, is recovering from the attack but remains traumatized by the incident, mistaking Kwan for a genuine nurse during the poisoning. The bizarre nature of the case left residents shocked in the quiet neighborhood of Ingleby Barwick.
