Dodgers' Dave Roberts Calm About Airline Delays

LOS ANGELES — Dodgers manager Dave Roberts clarified his comments after they gained attention. He had questioned if there was intent behind airline delays for his team leaving Toronto. Roberts dismissed any suggestion that the Canadian government was involved in the travel issues.

Roberts and his staff faced delays flying from Toronto Pearson Airport to Los Angeles International Airport. They arrived at Dodger Stadium late for a scheduled workout before Game 3 of the World Series against the Blue Jays.

During a news conference, Roberts mentioned the delays but did not speculate on intent. He acknowledged the challenges of international travel but remained positive about making it to the ballpark on time.

The comments caused some controversy on social media, especially considering the team's usual customs procedures when traveling between the U.S. and Canada. Roberts later admitted that he could have worded his concerns differently.

The Dodgers had a large traveling party for the World Series games in Toronto, with about 400 people spread across four planes. Despite the lengthy process, Roberts attributed most delays to the complexities of international travel and security measures.

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney predicted the Blue Jays to win in six games, unrelated to the Dodgers' travel difficulties. Roberts emphasized that Canada was not intentionally causing issues for the team and acknowledged it was simply a challenging travel day.
