Dodgers' Mookie Betts Wins Roberto Clemente Award

Mookie Betts, the founder of the 5050 Foundation aimed at supporting underserved youth, was awarded the 2025 Roberto Clemente Award on Monday before Game 3 of the World Series. The award recognizes players who demonstrate exceptional character, community involvement, philanthropy, and positive contributions on and off the field.

Established in 2021, Betts' 5050 Foundation has raised over $100,000 to assist underserved youth with mental/emotional health, nutrition, financial literacy, and physical fitness. Betts expressed gratitude for the award, emphasizing the importance of impacting people's lives positively and serving as a role model for children.

Betts collaborated with the Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation to donate $160,000 to the Brotherhood Crusade, supporting initiatives against hunger and homelessness, and provided over $30,000 in Nike apparel to victims of the 2025 Los Angeles fires. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts commended Betts and his wife, Bri, for their foundation's work and highlighted Betts' ability to excel both on and off the field.

Being the first Dodgers player to win the Roberto Clemente Award since Justin Turner in 2022, Betts now adds this prestigious accolade to his impressive resume, which includes eight All-Star selections, the 2018 American League MVP title, and three World Series championships.
