Donald Trump unveils 20-point peace plan for Gaza
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has accepted Donald Trump's plan to end the war in Gaza. Hamas has not yet responded to the proposal.
The White House has provided the full text of the proposal:
- Gaza will become a deradicalized, terror-free zone that does not threaten its neighbors.
- Gaza will be rebuilt for the benefit of its people.
- If both sides agree to the proposal, the war will end immediately. Israeli forces will withdraw to an agreed-upon line to prepare for a hostage release. All military operations, including aerial and artillery bombardment, will cease, and battle lines will remain frozen until conditions are met for a complete withdrawal.
- Within 72 hours of Israel's public acceptance, all hostages, alive and deceased, will be returned.
- Israel will release 250 life sentence prisoners and 1,700 Gazans detained after October 7, 2023. For every Israeli hostage whose remains are released, Israel will release the remains of 15 deceased Gazans.
- Hamas members committing to peaceful co-existence and disarmament will receive amnesty. Those wishing to leave Gaza will be provided safe passage.
- Upon acceptance, full aid will be sent to Gaza, including humanitarian aid, infrastructure rehabilitation, and necessary equipment.
- Aid distribution in Gaza will be overseen by international institutions without interference from the parties.
- Gaza will be governed by a temporary Palestinian committee until the Palestinian Authority can take control.
- An economic development plan for Gaza will be created to attract investments and create jobs.
- A special economic zone with preferred tariff rates will be established.
- No one will be forced to leave Gaza, and demilitarization will be supervised by independent monitors.
- A guarantee will ensure compliance with obligations and no threat to neighbors.
- An International Stabilization Force will be deployed in Gaza to train Palestinian police forces and secure borders.
- Israel will not occupy or annex Gaza, and the IDF will gradually withdraw as stability is established.
- If Hamas rejects the proposal, the aid operation will proceed in terror-free areas.
- An interfaith dialogue process will promote tolerance and peaceful co-existence.
- The United States will facilitate a dialogue between Israel and the Palestinians for peaceful co-existence and self-determination.
