In the pole vault event, Mondo Duplantis of Sweden broke the world record for the 14th time by clearing 6.30m on his final attempt. Despite initial failures, Duplantis succeeded in a thrilling moment, solidifying his dominance in the event.

During the day's events, British athlete Molly Caudery withdrew from the women’s pole vault due to an ankle injury, while Emile Cairess pulled out of the men’s marathon due to extreme heat and humidity in Tokyo.

Cole Hocker, the Olympic champion, was disqualified from the 1500m final for allegedly pushing past another runner during the semi-finals. Team USA plans to appeal the decision.
