Edmonton Oilers Ink Jack Roslovic to $1.5M Contract
The Edmonton Oilers signed forward Jack Roslovic to a one-year, $1.5 million contract on Wednesday night. Roslovic, a 28-year-old from Columbus, joins the team for his ninth NHL season after a successful stint with the Carolina Hurricanes, where he scored 22 goals and 39 points last season. This move marks Roslovic's fourth team in three seasons, previously playing for the Blue Jackets and New York Rangers.
Known for his offensive skills, Roslovic has averaged 46 points per 82 games over the past five seasons, totaling 102 goals and 260 points in 526 NHL games. His strengths lie in skating, playmaking, and puckhandling, although he has faced challenges with consistency and decision-making on the ice.
Roslovic, a former first-round pick, was selected by the Winnipeg Jets a decade ago after excelling in the U.S. National Team Development Program. Oilers GM Stan Bowman praised Roslovic's versatility and speed, highlighting his potential impact on the team's lineup alongside recent additions like Andrew Mangiapane and Ike Howard.
Despite missing training camp, Roslovic is expected to join the Oilers soon, pending a decision on his lineup debut. The team will need to make roster adjustments to accommodate Roslovic, with players like Noah Philp and Curtis Lazar potentially facing waivers or demotion to the AHL. The Oilers anticipate further changes to the roster as injured players like Mattias Janmark and Zach Hyman return in the coming weeks.
