Erick Fedde faces tough battle against Milwaukee, Diamondbacks win 3-2
Erick Fedde was approached by the Milwaukee Brewers on Tuesday, Aug. 26, and swiftly found himself pitching against the Arizona Diamondbacks at American Family Field the next day. Fedde, now with his third team in 2025, pitched for 4 ⅓ innings, allowing two runs on eight hits.
Despite Fedde's efforts, the Brewers lost 3-2 as their offense struggled. Manager Pat Murphy praised Fedde's performance, especially considering the short notice of his call-up. The Brewers also faced a setback when closer Trevor Megill was placed on the injured list due to a right flexor strain.
The Chicago Cubs' consecutive losses allowed the Brewers to maintain a 6 1/2-game lead in the Central Division. The game saw Andrew Vaughn's baserunning help the Brewers score first, followed by Fedde's solid pitching performance.
Fedde, who had previously played for the St. Louis Cardinals and Atlanta Braves in 2025, faced challenges in the game but remained optimistic about learning from the experience. Despite a loss, Fedde expressed a willingness to contribute to the team in any way possible.
The Brewers made a late attempt to rally in the eighth inning, narrowing the score to 3-2. However, their efforts fell short as the Diamondbacks secured the win. Manager Murphy acknowledged the team's aggressive play, even in the face of defeat.
The Brewers' next game against the Diamondbacks is scheduled for Aug. 28, with José Quintana pitching for Milwaukee and Nabil Crismatt for Arizona. The game will be broadcast on FanDuel Sports Wisconsin and AM-620 WTMJ radio.
