European club eyes £40m deal for Marcus Rashford amid Man United departure rumors
Bayern Munich is reportedly considering a move for Marcus Rashford, the out-of-favour forward from Manchester United. Rashford, 27, last played for United in December and was loaned to Aston Villa for the second half of the season. At Villa Park, he scored four goals and provided six assists in 17 appearances. However, Villa decided not to exercise a £40m option to sign him permanently.
Rashford has attracted interest from several clubs in Europe, including Newcastle and Barcelona, with the latter being his preferred destination. According to German newspaper Bild, Bayern Munich has now joined the race to sign Rashford this summer. The club is looking to bolster its attacking options after missing out on Florian Wirtz, who joined Liverpool for £116m.
Bayern Munich has added Rashford to their list of targets due to his versatility in playing both wide and up front. Despite being valued at £40m by Manchester United, Rashford's high weekly wage of £315,000 until 2028 could complicate any potential transfer. If he moves to Germany, Rashford would reunite with his England teammate Harry Kane.
Rashford was dropped by United manager Ruben Amorim in December and subsequently loaned out. Amorim made it clear that Rashford does not have a future at United. Rashford expressed his readiness for a new challenge and hinted at leaving the club. Despite his uncertain future, Rashford remains committed to Manchester United, where he has been since the age of seven and made his debut in 2016.
