Everton fan from Malaysia meets Roberto Martinez after game cancellation

Richard Wee, a lifelong Everton supporter from Malaysia, traveled to watch his first game at Goodison Park against Crystal Palace. However, the match was postponed just an hour before kick-off due to storm damage to nearby buildings.

Club officials reached out to Wee through social media and arranged for him to meet Everton manager Roberto Martinez and defender Leighton Baines that evening. Wee expressed his gratitude for the hospitality shown by Everton and the warm messages from fellow fans.

Wee is scheduled to return to the club for a stadium tour led by former Everton striker Graeme Sharp and to meet with national and local media on Thursday.

The match between Everton, currently in sixth place, and Crystal Palace, in 15th place, was called off by police for safety reasons following storm damage to surrounding buildings.

Wee, who has supported Everton for 30 years, had been looking forward to watching his team play live for the first time but was disappointed by the postponement due to bad weather. Club officials made efforts to ensure he had a positive experience by introducing him to some of the players.
