The Independent has uncovered disturbing Telegram messages revealing offensive language used by Young Republican leaders in a leaked chat group. The messages contained racism, antisemitism, misogyny, and violent rhetoric.

The chat group, titled “RESTOREYR WAR ROOM,” included members from the New York, Kansas, Arizona, and Vermont chapters of the Young Republicans. The messages, spanning 2,900 pages from January to August this year, exposed the group's discussions on a hard-right pro-Donald Trump platform.

Peter Giunta, a former president of the New York State Young Republicans and a strong Trump supporter, was a key figure in the group. He made alarming statements in the chat, including references to gas chambers and Hitler.

Giunta's offensive remarks prompted his dismissal from his position as chief of staff to a New York state Assemblyman. Other members of the chat, like William Hendrix and Bobby Walker, also made derogatory comments, leading to apologies and condemnations from their respective parties.

The leaked messages have caused a stir, with calls for those responsible for the offensive comments to step down. The White House, while approached for comment, has distanced itself from the group involved in the controversy.
