The Secret Service is investigating a security breach at a Trump golf club in Virginia where a member accidentally brought a semi-automatic Glock handgun while President Trump was present. The agency has initiated an internal review into the incident and placed the agent responsible for screening the individual on administrative leave.

The club member who brought the gun was not in close proximity to the president. Concerns about security and presidential protection at the club were raised by club members following the breach. The individual involved has been interviewed by officials.

During the incident, handheld magnetometers were used to screen guests instead of walkthrough devices. Senior Secret Service officials visited the Trump National Golf Club to further examine security measures.

A week later, protesters confronted the president at a restaurant in Washington, D.C., calling him “the Hitler of our time” before being removed. The Secret Service faced scrutiny during the 2024 presidential election due to assassination attempts against the then-candidate.

Despite criticisms of training issues and operational failures, President Trump expressed confidence in the agency's capabilities, attributing any shortcomings to a "rough day" in an interview with Fox News.
