Fan ejected for hitting DeAndre Hopkins' helmet in Lamar Jackson altercation
The Buffalo Bills removed a fan who was involved in an incident with Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson during Sunday night's game at Highmark Stadium. Jackson threw a 29-yard touchdown pass to DeAndre Hopkins in the third quarter, giving the Ravens a 34-19 lead.
As Jackson and Hopkins passed by the stands after the touchdown, a Bills fan pushed Hopkins' helmet and then forcefully hit Jackson's helmet. Jackson responded by pushing the fan in the chest with both hands. The Bills confirmed that the fan was ejected from the game, which Buffalo won 41-40.
Jackson admitted that his emotions got the better of him when he saw the fan hit Hopkins' helmet. He acknowledged the need to control his reactions and rely on security in such situations. Despite the incident, Jackson stated that he would not avoid interacting with visiting fans in the future, as he enjoys celebrating with teammates after scoring.
In the game, Jackson threw for 209 yards and two touchdowns, adding 70 rushing yards and a rushing touchdown. Bills' quarterback Josh Allen led a remarkable comeback, erasing a 15-point deficit in the fourth quarter. The turning point came when the Ravens' Derrick Henry fumbled, allowing the Bills to recover the ball and score a touchdown. A failed two-point conversion left the score at 40-38 in favor of the Bills.
The Ravens failed to score on their next possession, and the Bills secured the win with a 32-yard field goal by kicker Matt Prater. Prater was elevated from the practice squad to the active roster just before the game.
