Felix Auger-Aliassime won the US Open junior titles in singles and doubles at Flushing Meadows, New York from August 24 to September 7. He defeated 15th seed Andrey Rublev in straight sets to advance to the quarter-finals against Australia's Alex de Minaur.
Auger-Aliassime, a 25-year-old Canadian, won 7-5, 6-3, 6-4 against Rublev, who had been the favorite with seven wins in their previous eight matches. Auger-Aliassime, who won the US Open junior title in 2016, dominated the match with 42 winners compared to Rublev's 22.
Rublev's frustration was evident as he smashed his racquet during the match. Auger-Aliassime credited his calm and poised demeanor for the victory, expressing his satisfaction at reaching the quarter-finals after setbacks with injuries and confidence issues.
Auger-Aliassime will face eighth seed De Minaur in the quarter-finals. De Minaur secured his spot by defeating Swiss qualifier Leandro Riedi 6-3, 6-2, 6-1 in just over an hour and a half. Despite facing some challenges, De Minaur's experience in quarter-finals and his aggressive game plan propelled him to victory.
