Iliman Ndiaye scored Everton's first goal at Hill Dickinson Stadium against Brighton, with an assist from Jack Grealish in the 23rd minute. Ndiaye also scored the final goal at Goodison Park in May against Southampton.

Grealish, on loan from Manchester City, provided another assist for James Garner during the game. This was Grealish's second appearance for Everton, having previously played as a substitute against Leeds.

Before the match, Everton manager David Moyes expressed his excitement about leading the team in their first game at the new stadium. The new stadium has a capacity of 52,769, while Goodison Park will still be used by Everton's women's team.

Alan Shearer raised concerns about Grealish's performance at City, suggesting that his difficulties with Pep Guardiola led to his loan move to Everton. Shearer emphasized the need for Grealish to prove himself and revive his career at his new club.
