Former Teammate of Liverpool's Florian Wirtz Reveals Recruitment Attempt

A former teammate of Florian Wirtz disclosed that the new Liverpool player tried to persuade him to join Anfield. Jonathan Tah, who recently moved from Bayer Leverkusen to Bayern Munich on a free transfer, signed a contract with the Bundesliga champions until 2029. Wirtz, who also departed Leverkusen, joined Liverpool in a £116 million deal, potentially setting a British club record. Another Leverkusen player, Jeremie Frimpong, joined Liverpool in a £29.5 million deal.

Tah acknowledged that he had conversations with Wirtz about joining Liverpool. When asked if he tried to convince Wirtz to join Bayern, Tah mentioned that it was actually the other way around. Both players, who were part of Leverkusen's undefeated Bundesliga-winning team in 2023-24, will continue to play together for the German national team.

The disclosure was made by Tah in an interview with Kicker. He mentioned that both players made their decisions independently, respecting each other's choices. The two friends will maintain their partnership on the international stage representing Germany.
