Fnatic Triumphs in $1M ‘Valorant’ Masters Tokyo Tourney
Fnatic emerged victorious in the Valorant Masters Tokyo tournament, defeating Evil Geniuses 3-0 in the grand final to claim the $1 million prize.
Throughout the tournament, Fnatic displayed dominance, facing a strong challenge only from Evil Geniuses. They bypassed the group stage due to their high seeding and began in the upper bracket quarter-finals, where they defeated NRG 2-0. Fnatic then triumphed over Paper Rex with another 2-0 victory.
In the upper bracket final, Fnatic faced tough competition from Evil Geniuses, ultimately winning 2-1, including a 13-3 victory on Lotus. The Grand Final against Evil Geniuses showcased Fnatic's superiority, securing a 2-0 lead with impressive wins on Lotus and Split. Despite a potential comeback by Evil Geniuses on Bind, Fnatic rallied from a 12-7 deficit to force Overtime and secure the championship.
Evil Geniuses, though faltering in the final, had a commendable tournament, remaining undefeated in the group stage and only losing to Fnatic in both the upper bracket final and grand final. Fnatic's dominance highlighted the gap between them and other Valorant teams.
Fnatic will receive $350,000 as tournament winners, while Evil Geniuses will take home $200,000. Paper Rex and NRG secured the third and fourth positions, earning $125,000 and $75,000 respectively. Fnatic's victory also grants Europe an additional slot at the upcoming Valorant Champions event.
This victory marks Fnatic's second major championship in Valorant this year, following their win at the LOCK IN Sao Paulo tournament. Riot Games announced the introduction of a new agent named Deadlock at the Valorant Masters Tokyo event.
