FC Barcelona Keen on Acquiring Champions League Star, Says Italian Reports
FC Barcelona is considering signing Denzel Dumfries, a player who stood out in their recent Champions League matches, according to reports from Italian media like Gazzetta dello Sport, as cited by SPORT based on anonymous sources.
Dumfries impressed during the Champions League semifinal first leg, scoring two goals for Inter in a 3-3 draw with Barca. Despite Barca's subsequent 4-3 loss, Dumfries continued to shine in the high-intensity match.
Barca's defeat in the Champions League denied them a chance to reach the final for the first time since 2015. However, they still achieved success by winning the La Liga title and both cups, outperforming Real Madrid.
To stay competitive, Barca is looking to strengthen its squad by potentially signing Dumfries from Inter. Unlike other players, Dumfries is available for a more affordable fee of $29 million (€25 million) until mid-July.
Reports of Barca's interest in Dumfries have emerged recently, with the club reportedly serious about the transfer. Inter is aware of this interest and is already preparing for Dumfries' potential departure.
Dumfries could provide valuable support to Barca's defense, allowing regular player Jules Kounde to have necessary rest periods throughout the season.
