Ford recalls 850,000+ vehicles for fuel pump issue
Ford has recalled over 850,000 vehicles due to a fuel pump issue, shortly after recalling hundreds of thousands of other vehicles. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration announced the recall on Tuesday, citing potential failure of low-pressure fuel pumps in some Ford vehicles. If the pump fails, it could lead to engine stalling while driving, increasing the risk of a crash.
The recalled vehicles include models like 2021-2023 Bronco, Explorer, Lincoln Aviator, F-250 SD, F-350 SD, F-450 SD, F-550 SD, 2021-2022 Lincoln Navigator, Mustang, F-150, and 2022 Expedition vehicles. Owners of the affected vehicles will receive safety risk letters on July 14 and will be notified again when a remedy is available.
This recall follows another involving more than 200,000 Ford vehicles last month due to a software defect affecting the rearview camera. The recall, announced on June 30, warned that the camera could display a blank image or remain on after shifting out of reverse, potentially distracting the driver. The affected vehicles include models like 2018-2022 Transit Connect, 2019-2020 MKZ, Edge, Continental, F-150, Nautilus, Fusion, 2019-2023 Ranger, Mustang, 2020-2021 EcoSport, Expedition, Navigator, 2020-2022 Escape, F-250 SD, Corsair, 2020-2023 Aviator, Transit, 2020-2024 Explorer, 2021-2024 Bronco Sport, and 2022-2024 Maverick vehicles.
Owners of the vehicles in the second recall will receive notification letters on July 28 and can have their vehicle software updated at no cost by visiting a dealer.
