Former Child Star Frankie Muniz Injured in Bizarre NASCAR Mishap, Unable to Race

Frankie Muniz, known for his role in Malcolm in the Middle, has faced a setback in his NASCAR career due to an injury. He races for Reaume Brothers Racing in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series for the 2025 season, having transitioned from acting to racing in 2006.

Muniz sustained a broken wrist in a fall from a ladder while changing batteries in a ring camera in his Arizona backyard. This injury, diagnosed as a distal radius fracture, will prevent him from participating in several upcoming races, including this weekend's event.

Despite expressing disappointment at missing races, Muniz expressed gratitude that the injury wasn't more severe. He acknowledged the support of his team, Ford Performance, and anticipates a 6-8 week recovery period before returning to racing.

Due to his wrist injury, NASCAR driver Frankie Muniz is unable to race indefinitely. He is most famous for his role in Malcolm in the Middle.

The upcoming race in Darlington, the South Carolina Education Lottery 200, kicks off the Truck Series playoffs. Following this event, races will take place on September 11 in Bristol, September 20 in New Hampshire, and October 3 at the Charlotte Roval.

Reaume Brothers Racing has named Mason Maggio as Muniz's replacement for the Darlington race. Muniz, in his first full-time Truck Series season, holds one top-10 finish and currently ranks 24th in the points standings.

In 2023, Muniz participated in the ARCA Menards Series, finishing the season in fourth place with one top-five finish and 11 top-10 finishes. Despite his racing career, Muniz remains recognized primarily for his role in Malcolm in the Middle and has not ruled out a return to acting in the future.

Malcolm in the Middle, where Muniz starred, aired for seven seasons from 2000 to 2006 and is considered a classic sitcom. Muniz portrayed Malcolm, a child prodigy in a dysfunctional family with four brothers.
