Former Super Bowl Champion Arthur Jones Dies at 39, Leaving Baltimore Ravens Devastated
The Baltimore Ravens have announced the sudden passing of Super Bowl-winning defensive tackle Arthur Jones at the age of 39.
Emergency Medical Services responded to Jones' home in Syracuse, New York, before 11 am local time on Friday. His pacemaker had alerted his doctor, but Jones had passed away by the time EMS arrived due to a pre-existing heart condition.
Jones played four seasons with the Ravens after being drafted in the fifth round of the 2010 NFL Draft. He also had brief stints with the Indianapolis Colts and the Washington Redskins.
The Rochester-born defender, older brother of ex-UFC Heavyweight champion Jon Jones and former New England Patriots star Chandler Jones, retired after the 2017 season. He won a Super Bowl ring with the Ravens in 2012 after helping defeat the San Francisco 49ers.
Ravens executive vice president and general manager Eric DeCosta expressed deep sadness at Jones's sudden passing, praising his positive presence and love for family, teammates, and friends. Jones had a successful career with the Ravens, recording 173 tackles and 10 sacks in four years, with notable performances in the Super Bowl victory.
