Gary Barlow's wine snubbed by exclusive London clubs for not sticking to singing
Gary Barlow's Wine Company Faces Criticism from Private-Members' Clubs
Wholesalers attempted to persuade bosses at exclusive private-members' clubs, with memberships costing £200,000 a year, to stock Gary Barlow Wines. However, feedback received was not positive.
One Mayfair club manager, speaking anonymously, described the wine as low quality and suggested that Barlow should focus on his singing career. They mentioned that their club caters to high-profile individuals who typically spend between £50 and £500 on a bottle of wine, and they would not stock a wine that can be purchased for a few pounds at Tesco.
Gary Barlow, a well-known British pop star, ventured into the wine industry with his creations, including a Sauvignon Blush priced at £8.25 at Tesco. Reviews of his organic range on the Tesco website vary, with some customers praising the wine while others criticized it for being bitter and lacking depth.
Barlow, aged 54, launched his wine range in 2021 after extensive research and tasting sessions. He also hosts a show called Gary Barlow's Wine Tour on ITVX, where he explores different wines from around the world. Gary Barlow Wines has been approached for comment.
