Guests revealed for 'Jimmy Kimmel Live' comeback episode
After a sudden suspension, ABC has announced that "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" will be back on Tuesday evening with new guests.
The late-night talk show was put on hold indefinitely on September 17 due to criticism from Nexstar Media Group, Sinclair Broadcast Group, and the Federal Communications Commission regarding comments made by host Jimmy Kimmel on the September 15 episode about the shooting of Charlie Kirk.
On Monday, September 22, the Walt Disney Company revealed that Kimmel's show would return following "thoughtful conversations." The show's official Instagram page shared a photo of Kimmel and comedian Guillermo Rodriguez with a caption expressing their return with love.
While ABC has decided to resume airing Kimmel's show, Nexstar and Sinclair will continue to replace "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" with other programming. The lineup of guests for the show's return remains uncertain, but Hollywood stars are expected to appear.
ABC has announced the guests for the upcoming episodes of "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" this week, including Canadian singer Alanis Morissette, Ethan Hawke, and Peyton Manning. Notably, comedian Wanda Sykes, who was initially scheduled to appear on the suspended episode, is not among the confirmed guests.
"Jimmy Kimmel Live!" is scheduled to come back on Tuesday, September 23, at 11:35 p.m. ET/10:35 p.m. CT. However, ABC affiliates owned by Nexstar or Sinclair will not air this episode.
Viewers can watch ABC through various platforms, including Hulu for streaming the show the next day and the show's YouTube page for clips.
Despite ABC's confirmation of the show's return this week, uncertainties remain about the future of "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" Nexstar and Sinclair have chosen to preempt the show with other content. Kimmel's contract is set to expire in May 2026, as reported by The Associated Press and CNN.
