IndyCar Race relocating to Markham, Ontario from Toronto in 2026.

The IndyCar Series race held on the streets of Toronto will relocate to Markham, Ontario starting in 2026. The City of Markham, Race Promoter Green Savoree Toronto ULC, and IndyCar have announced that the Ontario Honda Dealers Indy will have a new home under a multi-year agreement.

A street circuit will be constructed in Markham, with the race scheduled for August 14-16, 2026.

Markham native and former IndyCar driver James Hinchcliffe expressed his excitement about the move, highlighting the significance of the series coming to his hometown. Markham, located adjacent to Toronto's northeastern boundary, is a growing city with a population of over 1.25 million residents. The race will take place in Markham Centre, the city's downtown core, which houses various corporate headquarters and the York University Markham Campus.

Markham Mayor Frank Scarpitti welcomed the IndyCar Series to the city, emphasizing the economic and cultural benefits it will bring. The event is expected to draw over 140,000 attendees and generate significant economic activity through sport tourism and hospitality services.

The temporary track in Markham's downtown area has been designed by renowned track designer Tony Cotman. The layout includes a 12-turn, 3.52-kilometer track with a double-sided pit lane. The City of Markham has begun preparations for the track and festival site in collaboration with Metrolinx and other partners.

Penske Entertainment President and CEO Mark Miles expressed his excitement about the move to Markham, praising the city's dynamic environment as a fitting backdrop for the racing event. The NTT IndyCar Series is known for its high-speed competitions and diverse racing venues across North America.

The Ontario Honda Dealers Association has shown enthusiasm for the move to Markham, renewing their sponsorship of the event. Markham, with its diverse community and strong economic presence, offers a new and promising location for the IndyCar Series starting in 2026.
